5.2 Creating/Modifying Projects
Projected are managed from the Projects tab. Existing projects are listed there in a color-coded, alphabetized tree structure. If a project is moved to be a child of another project, or if the title is changed, the tree will be adjusted accordingly. The color of the project in the tree indicates its state — green meaning it is still needing to be prepared, and red meaning it is complete or closed.
Creating
Before creating a project, consider whether it should be a product, component, or project record, and think of how will fit into a tree hierarchy. To create a new project, simply click on the "New Project" button found below the project list. The project view will be cleared and ready for the project data to be set. New projects require a record type and title, both of which may be edited later. Other data fields are optional and are described in more detail later in this chapter. Once the required data has been provided, the "Create" button will become enabled. Click on the "Create" button and the project will be saved and automatically selected in the project list.
Modifying
Select a project to view or modify by clicking on the project name in the list. The details of the selected project will be shown. At that point, it is possible to view the list of issues assigned to the project, comments, and history. Open projects can be modified or deleted by editing the available fields and clicking on the "Save" or "Delete" button.
Projects are listed in an alphabetized tree. That is
to say that the root projects are alphabetized, and their childer at each level are also alphabetized, but the
tree determines the order of projects in the list. |
