4.1 Creating/Modifying Iterations

Iterations are managed from the Iterations tab. Existing iterations are listed here in descending order of start date — i.e. the oldest iterations are always pushed to the end of the list. This is because current iterations are of the most interest and are therefore listed first. Changing the starting dates of iterations will cause the iteration list to be resorted appropriately.

Creating

To create a new iteration, simply click on the "New Iteration" button found below the iteration list. The iteration view will be cleared and ready for the iteration data to be set. New iterations require a title and date range, both of which may be edited later. Once the required data has been provided, the "Create" button will become enabled. Click on the "Create" button and the iteration will be saved and automatically selected in the iteration list.

Modifying

Select an iteration to view or modify by clicking on the iteration name in the list. The selected iteration will be shown and it is possible to view the list of issues assigned to the iteration, comments, history, as well as special charts and reports that reflect the progress and statistics of the iteration. Open iterations can be modified or deleted by editing the available fields and clicking on the "Save" or "Delete" button. The available data fields will be described in more detail in this chapter.

Iterations are not sorted by name in iteration lists, rather they are sorted in descending order by start date. That way, the active and most relevant iterations are always near the top of the list.
